View Larger Portland Day 2: Washington Park
Today started my actual work out here in Portland. I was in a conference all day, starting at 830 this morning and going until 430 this afternoon. Breakfast was from this little cafe in the conference tower. I had a veggie frittata and a cinnamon raisin bagel-both were boss! The conference itself was among about 6 different federal agencies and was set to discuss which agencies would receive Congressional funding for hazardous material cleanup projects. All in all, BLM did a pretty good job covering our bases and our projects are looking like pretty strong candidates. After work, my supervisor, another coworker, and I all went out for a walk and ended up in Portland’s Washington Park. This place was BEAUTIFUL! It was mind blowing to me that such beauty could be found in the middle of the city. The picture here is of the rose garden which is just one part of the park itself. There were miles of trails, a playground or two, and even a zoo in the park! I could have easily stayed in that park for hours, but dinner was calling. We ended up at a Japanese bar where I got some sushi-still not Portland, but it was at least seafood (I’m getting closer, right?). Well tomorrow will continue the conference and I think I am going to check out Stumptown Coffee for breakfast! Super stoked!
View Larger So, as some of you may know, I traveled to Portland, Oregon this morning on business for work. Let me tell you-this place is GORGEOUS! There are trees everywhere, even through the city and around the freeway, and it truly changes everything. This city has so much charm and there are so many cool little places to explore! I went for a run for about 3.5 miles and there was so much to see even on that short tour. Dinner was some Italian food-nothing too ‘Portland’ I guess, but it was still tasty, and followed by frozen yogurt :) bottom line is that this place is awesome! I will be writing each day on my adventures, so if you would like to hear more about this great city, feel free to follow along! :D
